What is a Krewe? They can be anything really. Neighborhoods, Organizations, interest or involvement in the community. The two best-known krewes that parade on Mardi Gras are the Krewe of Rex and the Krewe of Zulu.

The Order of Cimarrón would love to have your Krewe join us each year. Get Your parade forms here, get your beads and doubloons from Toomeys and Laissez les bons temps rouler!

2023 Wetumpka Mardi Gras Parade, presented by the Order of Cimarron

Thank you for your interest and participation in the 2023 Wetumpka Mardi Gras parade. We look forward to seeing all of you there.

The parade rolls out at 1:00.

We will begin staging parade participants at 10:00 at the Valley Brook Park on E. Tallassee St. in Wetumpka.  Please enter from E Tallassee Street on the north end of Valley Brook Park. Do not block that street at any time.  When you arrive, an OOC member will direct you where to park. If you are not greeted right away, give us a few minutes to get to you. Your patience will be greatly appreciated.

We need all participants, along with cars, trucks, trailers, go-karts, golf carts, marchers, etc. in place no later than 11:30. This gives us time to finalize any lineup conflicts.  Any decorating can be finished once you are in your final staging area. Please clean up any debris you generate.

Bands and marching units can stage with the vehicles in the park, or one of the concrete pads near the pavilion.  Band members, twirlers, dancers, etc. can be dropped off at the Pavilion. There is absolutely no parking at the park or Farmer’s Market except for designated parade entrants. Public Parking is limited; please be courteous to local residents.

A mandatory drivers meeting will be held at 12:00. Basic “rules of the road”, parade etiquette, and last-minute instructions will be discussed. At this time, drivers (only) will sign a safety agreement and be given a wristband signifying they have agreed to the parade rules set forth by the Order of Cimarron and the City of Wetumpka. As the parade begins, drivers will be checked for these wristbands; any driver without this will be directed to leave the parade route and not allowed to return. City of Wetumpka Police will also be verifying these wristbands and watching for any violations of parade rules or City ordinances.

Just before 1:00 the parade will slowly leave the staging area; OOC members will be directing each row of participants when to pull out. Keep in mind, there will be many walkers, so the speed must be very slow. We will exit the Farmer’s Market area on E Coosa St. and proceed directly to N Bridge St. where we will turn left toward W Bridge St. Please note, the parade doesn’t start until we turn left onto W Bridge; do not throw anything prior to N. Bridge St. The parade ends at the Wetumpka Civic Center. There is room to turn around at the old Faith Rescue Mission building just south of the Civic Center.

See the map for the parade route and more details.

Keep in mind, this is a family-oriented event. No offensive music. Keep music at a level that doesn’t drown out other participants’ music.

No alcohol allowed in the staging area or during the parade, especially for the drivers.

Out of respect and appreciation for the City of Wetumpka, help us keep the park and staging area clean.

Vendors will be open from 9:00 until 3:00 serving all sorts of food. There are several local establishments that will be serving adult beverages after the parade.

If you need anything, do not hesitate to email us at We will do anything within our power to help.

Most importantly, keep a good attitude and have a great time.

Laissez les bon temps rouler!!

Let the good times roll!!
